Application Engineer (CAD, FEA, CFD)

This Erasmus/Leonardo internship would suit a talented engineering student or graduate, looking to work with interactive image processing, 3D image visualisation and CAD/CAE simulation tools.

Overall purpose of the internship

The application engineer provides customer services and support and will form a link between clients, software development and marketing. Primarily, this will involve:

• Customer and sales support – customer contact, e.g. answering customer questions and inquiries via e-mail and telephone
• Finite element services – generate FE meshes using Simpleware’s tools, run FE analysis
• Facilitate customer interaction and feedback with software development and marketing
• Research new techniques to improve processes, product, technology, and documentation
• Write and publish white papers and reports
• Demonstrate software and teach some external customer

Knowledge, experience, skills, and competencies

• Graduate or student in Engineering degrees
• Very good English
• Good knowledge of one or more finite element or CFD packages (e.g. ABAQUS, Ansys, Fluent)
• Strong coordination and communication skills
• Team working
• Ability to work in a flexible environment
• Personal organisation
• Customer focus

• Start date: throughout the year
• Duration: 6-12 months
• Financial contribution: £350 on top of Leonardo/Erasmus grant
