Simpleware participates in FP7 project Immersion in the Science Worlds through the Arts

Exeter - 01/03/2011

Simpleware is one of the partners in the EU funded FP7 project: Immersion in the Science Worlds through the Arts (ISWA). The objective of the project is to use art to (a) produce artistic works based on scientific phenomena at a professional level, and (b) stimulate students at EU high schools to produce their own works and to organize an international competition to prize the best ones.

The project intends to realize artistic events through the following artistic disciplines: Modern dance, Cinema, Contemporary art, Imaging, and Literature. The produced art works (including the works produced by the high school students) will be presented to general public at live events throughout Europe.

The consortium includes several scientists, artists, art critics, film directors, actors, musicians and specialists in science popularization, who will work together to achieve the project goals. Universities, research institutes, dance schools, museums, theatres will be involved, together with the famous European Synchrotron Radiation Facility which hosts every year thousands scientists, including Nobel price winners.

The project is coordinated by Prof Franco Rustichelli from the Universita Politecnica Delle Marche, and will run for a duration of 2 years.

About Simpleware
Simpleware provides and develops world-leading mesh generation software for the conversion of 3D scan data (e.g. MRI, CT, MicroCT, etc.) into high-quality computer models used for CAD, Finite Element simulation, and Rapid Prototyping. The ease and unprecedented accuracy with which models can be generated have opened up computational analysis (FEA and CFD) and rapid prototyping to a variety of research fields, including: Industrial Reverse Engineering, Implant Design and other Biomedical Engineering fields, Materials Research, Geosciences, Oil & Gas, Paleontology, and other Natural Sciences. Unlike other approaches, Simpleware provides a complete software solution from importing 3D images through to direct export to commercial FEA/CFD solvers and CAD packages. This means that with Simpleware software users can produce better models in a fraction of the time taken with alternative software.
