New Release – ScanIP Version 4.3
Simpleware is delighted to announce that version 4.3 of our ScanIP+FE+CAD software package has been released. This latest release of Simpleware's image processing and mesh generation software introduces some exciting new features that will help you to accelerate the process of segmenting and meshing 3D image data.
New and improved features of ScanIP version 4.3 include:
- Improved Measurements will help you get more information from your scan data:
In this release we have updated and significantly improved how you can take and record measurements in ScanIP from your image data. The tools which include point measurements, distances and angles can be used in either the 2D slices, 3D model or in both simultaneously. - User Defined Mesh Refinement for +FE Free to improve the mesh in critical regions for the simulation:
This allows the mesh not only to be automatically adapted to features as usual but you can now also specify regions which will have a finer mesh. The mesh refinement also works on multipart meshes where you can set the tool to apply on all regions or just one. - Extra Support for assigning Greyscale Based Materials to optimise images for segmentation and materials assignment:
Improvements in the image import mean you will now have a background image which is optimised for your segmentation and also an image which can then be used to assign material properties based on the pixel intensity. - Improved Frame Rate during 3D Interaction will help you to work faster with the 3D interaction tools:
An optimisation in the 3D rendering code allows the frame rate to increase significantly compared to the previous version of ScanIP and even double in some cases, allowing smoother interaction with your rendered 3D model.
About Simpleware
Simpleware provides and develops world-leading mesh generation software for the conversion of 3D scan data (e.g. MRI, CT, MicroCT, etc.) into high-quality computer models used for CAD, Finite Element simulation, and Rapid Prototyping. The ease and unprecedented accuracy with which models can be generated have opened up computational analysis (FEA and CFD) and rapid prototyping to a variety of research fields, including: Industrial Reverse Engineering, Implant Design and other Biomedical Engineering fields, Materials Research, Geosciences, Oil & Gas, Paleontology, and other Natural Sciences. Unlike other approaches, Simpleware provides a complete software solution from importing 3D images through to direct export to commercial FEA/CFD solvers and CAD packages. This means that with Simpleware software users can produce better models in a fraction of the time taken with alternative software.
