MultiSim Modelathon 2017

Combining experimental and computational research to reduce
in vivo testing in a pre-clinical setting

September 11 - 14, 2017 - Diamond Building, University of Sheffield

The EPSRC-funded MultiSim Modelathon 2017 is a one-day symposium followed by a three-day modelling competition on combining experimental and computational research to reduce in vivo testing in a pre-clinical setting. The event brings together the very best of theory and practice in the area of multi-scale modelling.

The event is aimed at researchers in biomechanics, computational modelling or image based solutions, and will provide an opportunity to discuss, network, and practise multi-scale research modelling skills.

Programme

Day 1 - Symposium
The symposium explores how multidisciplinary groups (clinicians, engineers and modellers) can combine experimental and computational research methods in a cost and time effective way to reduce in vivo testing in a pre-clinical setting. The symposium is free for all participants, and can be attended as a standalone event.

Day 2-4 - Modelathon Competition
Participants will be grouped into teams to try and solve a complex multi-scale modelling problem. Teams will compete against one another to find quicker and more effective methods of addressing musculoskeletal and cardiovascular diseases by utilising computer simulations. Members of the winning team will each receive a £100 Amazon gift voucher.

The Simpleware Group is sponsoring and attending the modelling competition. We will provide hands-on support by sending an expert for the duration of the event to ensure participants utilise our software to its full potential in a competitive environment.

Register by 20 August 2017. Places are limited to 80 participants.
